The Analysis

New #1: Emer's fierce climb to #1 on the weighted leaderboard hit a roadblock this week as she guessed wrong and Pop guessed right. However, she didn't stumble too far as Pop now edges her out by a slim 7%. On the straight leaderboard, however, Pop made a serious statement, skyrocketing to 68.8% - more than double Emer's second place score of 32.8%. What does this mean? Pop might have claimed victory in almost 7-in-10 remaining outcomes, but the algorithm doesn't think the majority of those outcomes are going to happen.

Sibling rivalry: No, I'm not talking about the Zisling's or the Leibowitz's - I'm talking about the Wiley's. After a stellar debut in the FEP where he spent time in both first and second place, Jay has been overtaken by Buhduh for third place on the weighted leaderboard. She's ahead by a measly 1.5%, but for someone who's spent most of the season in the middle of the pack, that's a promising sign.

Speaking of the middle of the pack…: Buhduh, Jay, Jacob, Hanan, and Sarah all sit at least 25% below second place, at least 13% above eighth place and within 5.5% of each other. The race for third place right now is a crapshoot, and everyone continues to huddle closer together instead of breaking away.

Speaking of siblings….: Well, we can't fully ignore the Zisling twins. Does anyone else find it a little weird that since Week 1, Hanan and Sarah haven't been more than 2.4% apart on the weighted leaderboard? And, to add to the spookiness, the fraternal twins have had identical scores on the weighted leaderboard for the past two weeks. For anyone unfamiliar, that's very hard to do on the weighted leaderboard. I get we're close to Halloween, but this evil twin stuff isn't funny any more, guys.

Other storylines:

  • I'll stop you right there: I know what you're thinking. No, Sarah and Hanan are not the new Jemer. Despite having the same weighted scores the past two weeks, they've picked two remaining games differently. As it turns out, though, those two games are PHI @ DAL and DAL @ PHI. Another creepy coincidence? Maybe. But seriously guys, what the hell.

  • Goodbye, old friend: Amir's legendary streak of doing absolutely nothing in the FEP for six straight weeks has more-or-less come to an end. Bad news for us as entertained bystanders. Worse news for Amir because he just dropped to dead last on the weighted leaderboard.

Well, just when you thought the FEP was back after a two-week hiatus, we're diving straight into another one. Everyone picked the Eagles to beat the Giants this week, so, from the algorithm's perspective, it may as well be another bye week. Anyways, see you in two weeks when the Eagles face the Bengals - a major game for Jay and Nathan, the only ones who picked a win. Jay's looking to reassert himself as a real contender this season, while Nathan is just trying to claw his way back into relevance.

See you all then.
