The Analysis

RIP Jen and Andy - born two days apart; eliminated on the same day. I'd be lying to say they fought hard this season, but has anyone, really?

Please, a moment of silence for our fallen competitors.

The nightmare continues: Andy has suffered another early exit from the FEP after not even managing to score a point this season. In the algorithm era, Andy hasn't once managed to make it past the halfway point of the season, getting eliminated in Weeks 3, 7, and 4 in three consecutive years. In other news, Andy has reportedly initiated a smear campaign against the algorithm's efficacy, demanding that the FEP stop the count.

Cain & Abel: After four weeks in the 2024 season, seven competitors only have one point. Jen is one of them, but she is the ONLY one of them who has been eliminated this week. Why? Well, her one-time ride-or-tie and co-founder of team Jemer has turned around and stabbed her in the back; a classic tale of partners turned enemies. Emer's correct pick this week means that Jen cannot possibly pass her, placing her two points ahead of Jen with only one different pick the rest of the season.

Top Two: Speaking of Emer's correct pick, in which she was the only one this week to guess correctly, she has overtaken Pop on the weighted leaderboard for the #1 spot. She's the first competitor this season to join the 50+ club on the weighted leaderboard, and she also joins Pop as the two dominant leaders this season.

Other storylines:

  • All roads go through Emer: Amir has hardly moved once again on the weighted leaderboard, continuing his miraculous flatline run. As it turns out (and to no surprise to anyone at this point) his monotonous start has to do with Emer. He only has two remaining different picks from her this season (Week 12 @ Rams and Week 17 vs. Cowboys), and if either don't go his way he'll be eliminated.

  • Holding on hope: Jay has managed to carve out a decent start for himself, holding on to the #3 weighted position by a decent margin. However, as the Eagles continue to struggle, his optimism for this season puts his chances at risk.

The Eagles are off next week, which means the newsletter will be as well. At least we have a lot to look forward to when the Eagles return in Week 6 to face the Browns. This game has huge implications for the FEP with a 50/50 selection split across our competitors. Of note: Emer and Jay picked an L while Pop picked a W.
